I was reading a great article by a Pastor about things Christians should give up. It inspired me to share my take on some of those same things he named. These are some things that I have discovered that we must practice doing as Christians if we are going to stay strong and focused to live life Virtuously.
Resist the need to please everyone – It's impossible to please everyone, and in the end our real objective is ultimately to please God. That's what we should always strive for and focus on.
Resist Envy – Everyone is blessed in some unique way. The challenge is to associate with those who inspire us to find our own special gift from God. Our value is not found in material possessions, but in our God given identity and the quality of our relationship and love for God and Jesus Christ which is most eveident through our love for others.
Resist Impatience – God has a perfect plan for our lives and as we grow in spiritual character, God will release more blessings which really translate to a greater call to service for God which is what our spirits really desire.
Resist the temptation to compare ourselves to others – We were all created by God for our own unique purpose and we all have a one of a kind contribution to make. There is no one else who was created to do exactly what you do or serve the exact purpose that you serve. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Most of all you are irreplaceable.
Resist the fear of failure – Program your mind to believe that failure is another way of saying 'gaining experience' or 'learning from your mistakes. You can't succeed without gaining experience or making mistakes. When you do just get back up and keep moving forward.
Resist the spirit of poverty – God is the God of abundance. God is the God of more than enough. There is no lack in God. Believe that what you need is available to you and pray for the knowledge necessary to bring it into your life.
Resist Feelings of unworthiness – Jesus paid the cost for you to be renewed and restored to righteousness in God's eyes. If you Repent your sins, turn from wickedness and live for Christ , then you can confidently walk in the fullness of God's grace because when you belong to Christ, you are forgiven!
Resist the Lack of counsel – There is safety in a multitude of counsel. Christians are humble enough to seek help. Don't try to figure everything out by yourself. Employ the wisdom of God's people in your life.
Resist the urge to be Prideful – Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth, however pride always comes before a great fall. When you hear the word of the Lord don't harden your heart.
